Mega Tower Proposed for Roosevelt Island

Introducing Mandragore, a futuristic tower proposed for Roosevelt Island. This 2,418-foot mega tower is being proposed by French architects Rescubika for the foot of Roosevelt Island. The development would feature renewable components including wind turbines, solar panels, and wood construction materials making it carbon negative, meaning it removes more carbon from the atmosphere than it emits.

Of course, the tower is not feasible. Not only is the land occupied by protected historic landmarks and recently constructed parks, but city zoning regulations also would never allow it. If that site was theoretically developable, current zoning would only allow about 3.5 stories on 100% of the site, 157 less than proposed. Not to mention the lack of transit and access to the tip of an island that was originally designed to be car-free.
