On this day... Hamilton Duel
On This Day...
On July 11, 1804, Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton and Vice President Aaron Burr met on the dueling grounds across the Hudson in #Weehawken, New Jersey, to resolve a poisoned personal and political relationship. They chose the same spot Hamilton's son had died in a duel just three years earlier. The duel ended with Hamilton being mortally wounded and Burr being wanted for murder. Hamilton was only 47 years old.
We highly recommend Chernow's biography on Hamilton, and of course, Lin Manuel Miranda's Hamilton musical and soundtrack.
