The Soldiers' and Sailors' Arch at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn, ​ 1900. The triumphal arch is dedicated "To the Defenders of the Union, 1861–1865​"​ ​and was built by Central and Prospect Park landscape architects Olmsted and Vaux in collaboration with architect Stanford White. President Grover Cleveland led the arches unveiling in 1892. Spandrels on north face of the arch feature the seal of the city of Brooklyn and the seal of New York state.
