A rendering for the Norman Foster-designed JP Morgan headquarters at 270 Park Avenue has been released. Likely the future third tallest building in the city (by roof height), the tower is projected to rise 1,425 feet with 2.5 million gross square feet. The site was home to the 707' Union Carbide Building, which is quickly being dismantled, setting a new record for the tallest building demolished in the world, breaking the record of Manhattan's 612-foot tall #SingerBuilding, demolished in 1968 and replaced with One Liberty Plaza.

The Foster + Partners-designed skyscraper will be the first to take advantage of the 2017 Midtown East Rezoning, which allows developers to purchase and transfer air rights from adjacent landmarked buildings – they've already made a deal with St. Bartholomew’s Church to purchase 550,000 square feet of air rights for $20.7 million. Approved by the city, the new skyscraper will have a 10,000-square-foot, privately owned public space, in addition to $42 million in investment towards transit upgrades.

The rendering (above) was first released by New York YIMBY but appears to be Macklowe's Tower Fifth rendering with 270 Park rendered in. Because of this, we are skeptical it is actually an official rendering.
